The Concert!!!
We are very excited to have our FIRST IN-PERSON CONCERT on our NEW STAGE this May! Our Concert will open with the 4-5 classes performing a Jazzy number from learned in February during Black History Month. We studied music of jazz greats Duke Ellington and Count Basie and learned about the improvisation technique known as "scatting". We then worked on rhythm compositions through Body Percussion. The students each created their own 4 measure composition from which three were selected to be part of the Class Composition Presentation.
The Firebird Band continues to improve every day in band class! We are now performing actual pieces of music that have different parts for each instrument. The will be performing selections from our Standard of Excellence Method book, Regal March, and a joint performance with the Phoenix Fire Band of "Dragon Dance".
Like their namesake, The Phoenix Fire Band has risen from the ashes of COVID and online band, stronger than ever! This group has solid musicians and the fullest instrumentation we have ever had at Honey Creek, with instruments like Alto Saxophone, Tuba, and Baritone join players joining the ranks.
